3 Myths About Ductless Systems

ductless systems

When you think about ductless air conditioners or heat pumps you might think that they’re inferior technology that doesn’t provide great heating or cooling. That’s simply not true. There are actually a bunch of myths out there about ductless systems that we’re here to put to rest right now. Read on to find out the truth.

Noise In Ductless Systems

First of all ductless systems aren’t any noisier than any other HVAC appliance in your home. In fact many of them are built with unique whisper technology that ensure they make as little sound as possible. The air they actually blow around makes more noise than the mechanics inside the air handlers themselves. On top of that the condenser is outside of your home and is also often designed to be fairly quiet and unnoticeable.

Overall, ductless heat pumps and air conditioners are much quieter than window air conditioners and central air conditioners and furnaces.

Ductless Systems and Air Filtration

Many people think that because ductless air conditioners and heat pumps don’t have ductwork or a big fancy filter that they don’t actually filter the air in your home. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. Ductless systems actually do a great job filtering the air in the rooms that they’re in. By comparison, ductless systems typically have filters that simply need to be cleaned with a little water and are put back in. We’re sure you’d agree that having a reusable filter is much better than buying a new one every month.

Ductless Systems in Homes New and Old

It’s a common misconception that ductless air conditioner and heat pumps can only be installed in new homes. That’s not true at all. Ductless systems can be installed in any home and basically anywhere you need them. They’re actually really easy to install as they only require a 4 inch hole to be drilled in an exterior wall to connect the condenser and air handler units together.
